Potty Training

The weekend passed by like a breeze and now I'm longing for more especially since the weather was beautiful!

We have started potty training Kail. Talk about tough and not happening overnight! He knows how to pee in the potty, but he still doesn't tell us when he wants to pee! I had to ask him every 30 minutes or so if he wanted to use the potty and thank God he would always oblige. The husband on the other hand, doesn't have the patience to keep asking so I guess that's pulling him back on weekdays. Though he did say "potty" last night and I brought him to the bathroom as fast as a lightning could, hehe!

I know he's ready for potty training though because he can recognize when his diaper is full and would ask us to "change pah-per"

Abangan, when we'll be successful at this, and then the harder part will follow - poopoo! I'm dreading this already!

Any tips you can share mommies?

i think the key is to be constant. :) as in don't stop asking him if he wants to go potty. and also, reward him everytime he successfully does the deed. :)

ako i just kept at it, the savings from the diaper purchases beckoned to me a lot, hehehe!

It took Jake a while to master #2, but I let him run around the house with no underwear on for the first week and after his first accident and not liking the feeling of wet legs, it was a sucess in no time. Also, it helps to keep him pick his own undies. Jake had a blast picking Thomas and Power Ranger underwear. The whole sticker-reward thing does wonders. I got mine online but I'm sure you can find it at stores too. AND - when Daddy has to pee, encourage him to take Kail along. Show and Tell :)

Mama Meeya, the cost of diaper is also my driving force. Plus, with another baby coming soon, I don't want to buy two boxes of different diaper sizes... too expensive na!

Josephine, Kail had overflowed his diaper once and he kept running around the house with wet pants. He doesn't seem to mind! When he pees, he wants us to pee also, and then he'd say, "Kail potty" (pointing at his potty) "mommy potty" (pointing at the toilet). I'll try the sticker reward thing. Maybe that'll give him incentive to let us know when he needs to go.

Thanks for the tips ladies. Appreciate them coming from experienced potty trainers like you! ;)

you know what I did with Ethan? He was actually fast in the process, ngayon sa adult bowl na siya wiwi, wala na potty seat niya. Well. I don't know if you can do that there with the weather and stuff, wag mo siya pasuotin ng brief just the top. And it doesn't help (from experience) if you keep asking him every 30 mins, minsan na pepressure sila. So Abangan niyo ni reg and then pag lumabas na dali dali niyo siyan kargahin dun sa potty seat niya after being consistent with this process, siya na mismo ang pupunta sa seat. With briefs and all kasi you cant see if its coming out na. Poopoo is much easier than weewee. Goodluck!

hi mickee! more patience, sis! :) with franco, we had crying bouts (i was the one crying!) during the training. but i guess it is really just timing and readiness of the child. try making your hubby demo the pee, it will be a big encouragement to kail, bonding moment ba. hehehe. that's what we did with franco, with simon i am starting a little bit na, telling franco to show his baby bro how to pee, at least. goodluck! :)

hey mickee! goodluck on potty training kail. consistency is really the key. Sandy hasn't had any accidents for the past three months but that's because I always bring her to the bathroom every hour. the savings on diaper is definitely a big deal ;)

btw, I keep on forgetting that you're preggy. be safe! :)
