A couple of weeks ago, my dad called me with news of his health that troubled me. There was blood in his bowel. He went to see the doctor because aside from the blood, it was very uncomfortable for him too. He was diagnosed with colon cancer. I wept when I received the news.
Dad and I had a falling over years ago which would qualify for another post. We seldom talk and when we do, it was short and civil. But, no matter how much wide that gap became, I was still affected. I lost my beloved grandfather to the big C almost 20 years ago, and I don't think I can stand losing someone else dear to me again. I hate that sickness. I hope the world will be rid of it soon.
I prayed hard, and asked for prayers. To those who cared enough to read my blog, they responded with comments saying they would. To all of you, I say thank you. Our prayers were heard, and after tests and a minor surgery on Friday, it was determined that his' was a Stage 1. Thank God it was caught early on, and merely by accident. The blood on his bowel was unrelated to the Big C. God is good, because he orchestrated that nerve to burst, thereby leading him to the doctor, and thus, discovering a Stage 1 cancer.
In another month, more tests, and possibly another surgery might be needed. I would ask you to please continue to pray for my dad. He may not be the best father in the world, but he's the one I was blessed with.
Most of all, to our Father in Heaven, thank You.... My heart sings with gladness.

I hate the Big C! I fear it so. At least ur dad's cancer was detected early. God is indeed good. Will continue to pray for your dad's speedy recovery :) hang in there.
mickee, my auntie was diagnosed of having stage 2/3 colon cancer middle of last year. she went through several sessions of chemotheraphy and two days before Christmas, she was declared cancer-free. she's on remission now. they say that colon cancer is curable when detected early. i hope and pray that your dad will have a swift recovery from this illness.
yah, God is good Mickee. Will continue praying for your dad. Here's some cyber-hugs for you :)
hey sis, told you everthing would be fine. God is so good ano? :)
Hanagirl, I loathe the big C with all my might! My heart goes out to those who were left behind because this sickness took their loved ones away from them. I pray that someday soon, scientists will be able to get to the bottom of what causes this sickness so it can be prevented. Thank you for your prayers!
Gem, I'm so happy for your aunt. Prayers can really move mountains. What a beautiful christmas gift - being told she's cancer-free a couple of days before Christmas!
Thanks for the hugs and prayers Ela.
Xtine, I never thought I'd be able to post this, but because of the good news, I wanted to tell the world how great God is!
Everyday is truly a miracle. After all, we get to wake up morning after morning after morning to face yet another day.
God bless everyone! Cyber-hugs to you all too!
